Power is the single most valuable input for any growing economy. The Demand-Supply gap for the Indian Power Sector is growing at an alarming rate. “Power Generation” which was hitherto the domain of only State Electricity Boards and Public Sector Undertakings like NTPC, NHPC, Nuclear Power Corporation etc. has been thrown open to Private Sector Power Producers. With the Government offering significant incentives to Private Power Producers for setting up Thermal-Coal based as well as biomass based, Hydel and Solar Power Plants across the Country, the Power Sector is poised for an exponential growth. There is an acute shortage of Experienced Technocrats and Skilled Work force to meet the manpower demands of this growing sector. The need of the hour is fast track development of capable vendors which will form the backbone of the service industry in not so distant future. The established Service Providers should well consider taking another step of developing educated youth available in abundance and transform them into a Valuable Human Asset. Since its inception, this venture has given a reasonable platform to educated unemployed youth with a positive frame of mind to enhance their skill set and be useful to the Industry while learning with experienced fellow colleagues. I welcome suggestions from Power Producers, EPC Organisations, Service Providers, HR Managers of Engineering Corporates and MNCs, Heads of Educational Institutions, Retired Technocrats, VRS Optees, etc. in furthering of our effort towards development of human capital and vendor development.
